Our Favorite 2021 Paint Design Trends

Over the past couple of years, we have started to see quite a few inspiring and unique paint design trends that have been popping up online and in our clients’ homes. These trends are either entirely brand new or re-envisioned from pre-existing concepts with a fresh modern twist. Regardless, we have been participating in some pretty cool projects and after consulting with designers and seeing how these trends are growing, we are pretty sure they are here to stay for quite some time.

One of our most popular requests is the all-white cabinet refinish. This pairs really well with white oak lowers if you’re looking to add some natural-looking dimension or a sleek marble countertop. An all-white cabinet can really give your kitchen the “refresh” that it needs, and it makes accent walls or backsplash tile really pop. Our go-to for the perfect off-white is Creamy White by Benjamin Moore.

The all-white cabinet leads us to our next design trend, which is the black island. We have done this for a few of our clients, and most recently for AZ-based design and lifestyle influencer, Jaci Hodge of @JaciDaily and it was a hit! Who would have thought that a black-painted island would look so elegant? It pairs especially well with a mostly white kitchen and it exudes modern minimalism, which has been a recent popular design trend. If you’re going to do this, we recommend using Caviar by Sherwin-Williams.

One of the best and easiest ways to jazz up the exterior of your home is with a fun-colored door. It adds just the right amount of color and you don’t have to commit to anything too crazy when you go this route. Our favorite color to use at the moment is Sunnyside Up by Dunn-Edwards. It’s bright and cheery, but not overpowering.

Since 2020 became the year of spending time at home, a lot of people have since gravitated towards warmer colors that feel comfortable and welcoming. We have seen quite a few accent walls that boast rich earth tones and cozy living room spaces that have transitioned from white to neutral. A couple of our favorite colors that best work with this trend are Verde Marón and Portabello by Sherwin-Williams.

There are plenty of upcoming paint design trends that we expect to see throughout the rest of 2021, but these are just a few that we have seen time and time again that can add value to your home, give it the update it needs, and/or provide you with an exciting mini-renovation for an affordable price tag. If you’re curious about any of these options for your home, don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
